Well, the reason is extremely adorable. At an Hindustan Times event, Shah Rukh Khan & Gauri Khan were on stage together and SRK was quoted as saying he and Gauri went for their first honeymoon in Darjeeling and he had apparently lied to Gauri saying that it was actually Paris & not Darjeeling.
Now how did King Khan manage to pull off this blinder is something he knows best. But Darjeeling will always be special for these two as their first honeymoon venue.
