Sara Ali Khan is savoring the good comments she earned for her performance in Atrangi Re (2021) before returning to Laxman Utekar’s next movie alongside Vicky Kaushal, for which she recently completed filming in Indore.

In Aanand L Rai’s film, she played a character that was just as substantial — if not more — than that of her co-star, Dhanush. Her last two films, Simmba (2018) and Coolie No 1 (2020), it was all about the hero. When asked what prompted her to say yes to such films despite the fact that her role was little, she responds, “For me, the character and screen time important.” Of course, after working on Aanand ji’s film, she is eager for more substantial parts. She wants to do a variety of films. Today, if Rohit Shetty (Simmba’s director) approaches me with another commercial picture in which he requires me to perform another Aankh Maare, Then will do it.”

Remakes, on the other hand, are something she wishes to avoid right now. She featured in Coolie No. 1, a remake of the 1995 film starring Govinda and Karisma Kapoor.

She will be appearing in the remake of Atrangi Re. “You inform Aanand ji, and we’ll meet you at India Gate in Delhi,” Khan chuckles.

“My favourite aspect of my job is that ek din main Ranveer Singh ke saath high energy gaane karungi, aur doosre din Dhanush ke saath scene karungi, Varun (Dhawan) ke saath humor karungi,” the 26-year-old says. That’s why she does what she does: “You want to be able to accomplish anything.” She admits, though, that as an actor, she has gotten “greedier for substantial parts,” especially since her last release.

“After observing the subtleties with which Anand Ji instructed me and telling me, ‘Your role in Atrangi Re has zubaan pe gaali aur aankhon mein nahin chahiye’… “It’s quite wonderful to hear such things,” she says.

However, Khan swiftly adds that this does not imply she does not want to do the song-and-dance routines. She wishes to continue working with “Rohit sir and Aanand ji.”
