She might not have a number of Bollywood hits to her name yet but actress Taapsee Pannu has already become a name to be reckoned with in the few years since her debut. The beauty with brains actress is a powerhouse actor and performer who has made her it on her own in the industry due to her sheer talent and hardwork.
Born Delhi, Taapsee Pannu has a degree in Computer Science Engineering but later went on to pursue a modelling career. She did numerous advertisments before realizing she wanted to move onto acting.
Taapsee got her first break working in a Telugue movie Jhummandi Naadam in 2010. She later went on to do a lot of movies down south including Malayalam, Tamil starring opposite established South Indian actors like Dhanush and Prabhas.
Her Bollywood debut happened 3 years after her foray into acting with the movie Chashme Baddoor, a 1980s classic remake directed by David Dhawan. Although it wasn’t until 2015 when Taapsee was seen in a 10 minute role in the movie Baby playing a special agent that had everyone sit up and take notice. She did her own action scenes and even took martial classes for it. Though only a small role, it made a significant impact and a spin-off movie based on the character ‘Naam Shabana’ was released in 2016.
But it was her performance in the 2016 social thriller Pink that established her as a strong contender in the industry. Starring along side Amitabh Bachchan, Taapsee played the role of a sexual assault victim, Minal Arora. The actress picks the film as a turning point in her career.
Since then Taapsee has went on to do films in different genres. From comedy in Judwa 2 to playing a lawyer in Mulk. She also portrayed the role of a hockey player starring opposite Diljit Dosanjh in Soorma.
What can be termed as her career best performance yet came in the form of Anurag Kashyap ‘s Manmarziyaan wherein Taapsee was in the lead role. She was critically acclaimed by several, Times of India calling it as the best in her career.
This year, Taapsee was once again seen opposite Amitabh Bachchan in the mystery thriller Badla. The film was a commercial success and Taapsee received positive accolades once again for her performance.
The pretty actress believes living life to the fullest and make a legacy for herself that she can proudly show off to her kids sometime in the future!
