On Saturday, Prabhas, the Telugu actor who catapulted to popularity after his role in ‘Bahubali,’ turned 42. He is the only South Indian actor to have successfully migrated to Bollywood and maintained his position thus far.
Until recently, only a few male actors from the four South Indian film industries have gone into Bollywood, and those who have returned after one or two films have done so reluctantly.
Following Bahubali, Prabhas landed a few high-profile Hindi flicks. Despite the fact that his debut Hindi picture, ‘Saaho,’ did not perform very well at the box office, he maintains his allure.
Everyone’s attention is now focused on ‘Radhe Shyam,’ the latest teaser for which was released on Prabhas’ birthday, Saturday.
Despite the fact that he is presently in the spotlight, the trendy Telugu movie actor has not always had it easy. Since his debut in 2002, he’s had a lengthy journey to box office success.
Uppalapati Venkata Satyanarayana Prabhas Raju had to face the hurdles of building a career in the business despite coming from a powerful movie family – his uncle, Krishnam Raju, is a well-known senior Telugu actor and former Union Minister.
His debut film, ‘Eeswar,’ directed by Jayant Paranji, was a box office flop. His second picture, ‘Raghavendra,’ was also a flop. On the other hand, his tall stature, chiseled form, and trendy wardrobe endeared him to children.
While most would have given up on the industry, Prabhas persevered and achieved gold status with his third film, ‘Varsham,’ which has attained cult status.
Following that, a spate of box office blockbusters like ‘Chatrapahti,’ ‘Mirchi,’ and ‘Billa,’ among others, cemented his image as a bankable star.
Then there was Baahubali movie series. Prabhas, enthralled by the premise and unafraid of the commitment required of him, went headlong into the film helmed by renowned filmmaker Rajamouli. Prabhas did not hesitate to commit to the film for five years. Prabhas did not embark on any new film projects throughout the production of the epic flick.
When Baahubali was released in 2015, it was time for him to get his revenge. But he still had to wait until 2017 for the sequel. The film achieved records at the box office, grossing more than Rs 2,600 crore in total.
Despite the fact that the Covid epidemic has slowed production for the past two years, Prabhas has been a busy guy with a few films in the works.
Prabhas is a gourmet who likes playing volleyball and watching Rajkumar Hirani films. Krishnam Raju, his paternal uncle, is a hero to him.
Prabhas has been romantically connected to his Bahubali co-star Anushka Shetty, although the two have yet to reply. Prabhas is still an eligible bachelor for the time being.
