Jada Pinkett Smith is happy with her relationship with Will Smith’s ex-wife, Sheree Zampino, although she acknowledges it took some time. On her Facebook Watch chat programme, “Red Table Talk,” Pinkett Smith celebrated her 50th birthday by saying that, despite a tough start, she and Zampino — mother of her husband’s oldest son, Trey, 28 — now had a “wonderful sisterhood.” The “Girls Trip” actor spoke candidly about her relationship with Zampino, who was Smith’s husband from 1992 to 1995, as well as the hardships and joys of parenthood.
“You guys have been so lovely and supportive, and you guys just see me,” she said to Willow Smith, her 20-year-old daughter, and co-host, with tears in her eyes. “You, Trey, and Jaden, you’ve all seen me. During the most trying circumstances, you truly do. Being a mother wasn’t easy for me, but it was well worth it.” “Another issue,” she added, “was smoothing out my ideas surrounding, you know, the connection between Sheree and myself.” “That was a genuine procedure.” “When I think of our connection now, there’s a true sisterhood there,” she continued, “but it took 20 years.” The star, who married Smith, 52, in 1997, claimed her now-happy marriage to Ree Zampino, 53, has provided “ease” to their entire mixed family.
“It was truly a life-changing experience for all of us.” “It was easy having a blended family and getting to a position where it was comfortable.” She went on to say, “And having total, utter acceptance.” “Like, Ree accepts me and all of my crap.” “I’m okay with her and all of her foolishness.” “There’s a very wonderful sisterhood there,” she continued. Will Smith revealed his heartbreaking breakup with Zampino in June 2020, calling it “the worst thing” that had ever occurred to him as an adult. “I’ve been wounded a lot in my adult life,” said the former “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” actor, “but nothing compares to the failure of being divorced from my 2-year-old son’s mother.”
Pinkett Smith selected Zampino to be the first guest on the inaugural episode of “Red Table Talk” in May 2018. Pinkett Smith apologized for dating Smith before he and Zampino had completed their divorce process as the two ladies talked about their rocky start. Pinkett Smith and Smith both sent emotional birthday tributes to Zampino on Instagram in November of the same year.
