Throwback: Good Will Hunter Director Gus Van Sant Opens Up On Wanting To Work With BTS Jimin: Read

Gus Van Sant, the director of Good Will Hunter, discusses his desire to collaborate with BTS Jimin.

If BTS mania hasn’t yet engulfed you, you’re obviously missing out. The immensely popular South Korean septet, which consists of RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook, has enchanted their ARMY of millions of followers as well as many famous people, including John Cena and Cardi B, to mention a few.

BTS is loved for its emotional, number-one songs as well as for the members’ engaging personalities. Park Jimin is a prime example! The 26-year-old performer has a scene-stealing stage presence, honey-licious voice, a loving heart, and princely looks that can enchant just about anyone. Gus Van Sant, an Oscar-nominated director whose distinguished filmography includes, among others, Milk and Good Will Hunting, noticed Jimin back in 2019. I-D asked Gus Van Sant whether there was a particular performer he wished he could have collaborated with in an interview.

Unexpectedly, Gus Van Sant chose Jimin for this. Gus Van Sant admitted, “I’d love to photograph him too, but maybe that’s something for the future,” before clarifying, “He’s not exactly an actor, but occasionally I notice people who have a kind of serene vibe about them that I enjoy, and right now that person would be Jimin from BTS.” We wholeheartedly concur with Gus Van Sant.

Despite the fact that Jimin lacks acting experience compared to his ’95 line soulmate V, who appeared in Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth, ChimChim recently participated in the Our Blues OST with close buddy Ha Sungwoon, singing the sultry title song, With You.
