The lovely Urmila Matondkar has a very unique experience every Ganesh Chaturthi.
Sharing it with this writer the Rangeela actress says, “We don’t get Ganapati at home in Mumbai. We get it in my native place in Konkan.Regrettably this year we couldn’t make it due to work commitments.”
Urmila sorely missed being where her Ganesha is. “Believe me, it is most beautiful and pious time of the year. Untouched by modern interpretation of Ganapati, in Konkan the earth looks washed clean and ready for Bappa’s arrival with greenery and flowing rivers all around. Nature ready for the arrival of the Almighty.”
She also misses the reduced noise level in Konkan during Ganesh Chaturthi. “Bhajans are not on loud and screaming recorders but sung from the heart with live music. And of course we get the best Modak (prasad) in the world over there, as the coconut used in it is fresh from the backyard trees.”
Urmila will make sure doesn’t miss her appointment with Ganpati Bappa next year in Konkan. “It is truly a miraculous time. Prayers to the Lord of good times to keep all the evil away from our society….most of all,Corona.”
