One of the innovators who introduced the new trend of female-led parts in Hindi films is Vidya Balan. Despite making her acting debut in the 1995 sitcom Hum Panche, she didn’t make her big-budget movie debut until 2003’s Bengali feature Bhalo Theko. She then began working on Hindi movies through Parineeta in 2005. Along with that, Lage Raho Munna Bhai’s enormous success the year after propels her into the spotlight. She has since continued to produce fantastic films one after the other. Check out Vidya Balan’s top films to see how they helped shape the star that she is today.

Lage Raho Munna Bhai (2006)

In the follow-up to “Munnabhai M.B.B.S.,” directed by Rajkumar Hirani, Vidya was cast as the chirpy RJ Jhanvi. After winning numerous prizes, it went on to become the first Hindi film to ever be screened at the UN. Sanjay Dutt and Arshad Warsi stole the show, but Vidya Balan also garnered plaudits for her performance.

Paa (2009)

The 1996 Hollywood film Jack, which was directed by R. Balki, served as the model for this one. In this drama film, Amitabh Bachchan portrays the title character, a youngster who has the appearance of an elderly man. The mother experiences several ironies as a result of her son’s unusual genetic condition.

When the progeria-infected youngster discovers that his father is a reputable guy in the community, the entire narrative becomes more engaging. This father was portrayed by Abhishek Bachchan, and the mother was portrayed by Vidya Balan. Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan portray opposing roles in this movie, despite the fact that they are father and son in real life.

Kahaani (2012)

Vidya Balan’s name is connected to a number of movies, including Kahaani. The screenplay for this thriller movie was written by Sujoy Ghosh and Advaita Kalar, who invested in developing a compelling narrative. Here, despite being pregnant, Balan was spotted scouring Kolkata for her missing spouse. Parambrata Chatterjee, a well-known actor from Kolkata, and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, who played supporting roles, gave the entire film its flawless performance. The cinematography of the movie and the lead actors’ performances also received high appreciation from critics, in addition to the script.

The Dirty Picture (2011)

Rather than being a biography of a particular actress, the movie portrays the private lives of all the well-known glamor actresses, including the legendary Marilyn Monroe. Ekta Kapoor, the movie’s co-producer, came up with the initial concept, and Rajat Arora adapted it for the screenplay. Under Milan Luthria’s supervision, Vidya then produced her best work to date. In the movie, Vidya was joined by Naseeruddin Shah, Tushar Kapoor, and Emraan Hashemi.

For showing powerful women in a supposedly male-dominated world, the movie received a lot of attention. The song “Uh La La,” performed by Bappi Lahiri and written by Rajat Arora, was included on the soundtrack of the movie and quickly rose to the top of the charts.

Mission Mangal (2019)

One of the best drama movies of that era is named Mission Mangal, and Vidya is already a well-known celebrity throughout India. The film, which is based on the story of Indian astronauts visiting Mars, was made under the direction of Jagan Shakti. India made history by landing on Mars for the first time, and more importantly, female scientists supported the entire mission at the office. The entire film’s story gained a distinctive dimension from this setting. Here, Vidya was portrayed as a straightforward housewife who managed to juggle her personal obligations with her career as a scientist. Furthermore, Vidya performed the job utterly flawlessly. In addition to them, the movie also features Keerthi Kulhari, Sharman Joshi, Taapsee Pannu, Nithya Menen, Akshay Kumar, and Sonakshi Sinha.
