Shruti Haasan is a versatile actress who has worked in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi films. The actor works in all three languages and ensures that she only takes on projects that she is passionate about.
Shruti Haasan is particularly irritated by the false divisions that have been formed between India’s film industries. In response to AR Rahman’s allegations that a gang in Bollywood is working against his interests, the star diva expresses her dissatisfaction with the assumption that an actor is only an actor if he or she works in Bollywood.
She claims that she now chooses films based on her own preferences and does not listen to anybody. “I’m no longer listening to folks who insist that we should only make commercial films. I’ve been in a few blockbusters, but they weren’t really enjoyable. Now I’m making more honest decisions.” She wants to portray the role of a musician on the big screen because she is a musician herself. She correctly points out that the representation of musicians on the big screen may be shallow at times, and she would rather see a part that portrays the artist’s interior journey.
Shruti claimed that she was constantly asked how she’s not acting longer when she’s not doing Bollywood because she was too preoccupied with Tamil and Telugu films. “Is it true that as performers, we can only work in Hindi? Who decided that this is the most important thing to do?” Shruti was the one who asked the question.
