The action movie continues to be quite popular with moviegoers. Whether for good or for evil, viewers can usually escape reality for two hours. We decided to examine five of the greatest action movie stars ever because many actors have made a living playing action roles. Because this is not about donning a superhero costume to accomplish the task, we did not include the Marvel and DC employees.
Will Smith
With Smith’s early 1990s success as a universal entertainer, it was only a matter of time before he began producing action films. The buddy comedy Bad Boys (1995), Independence Day, and Men in Black were the first big hits. At this point, Smith had achieved global fame and was still in demand among fans today for his science-fiction action roles.
Kurt Russell
Despite the fact that Russell’s days as a top action star are over, he is still considered one of the finest in the industry. Action cult classics like Escape from New York and Escape from L.A. from his hard-guy, early work as the great Snake Plissken still hold up well today. Russell, one of the most versatile actors of all time, even won the action comedy Big Trouble in Little China and made an appearance in the Fast and Furious series.
Russell Crowe
One of the most talented performers of this generation, Crowe is versatile. That includes his capacity for action parts, none more so than his performance in the 2000 film Gladiator, for which Crowe received the Best Actor Oscar. With movies like Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World, 3:10 to Yuma, and Robin Hood, he tried again. However, some would contend that his life off-screen is even more exciting.
Patrick Swayze
Swayze, who passed away recently, was a master at fusing drama and action. Swayze starred in arguably three of the most well-liked guilty pleasure action movies of the 1980s and ’90s: Red Dawn, Road House, and Point Break. Despite the fact that he’s best known for sappy movies like Dirty Dancing and Ghost, where he showed little physical angst, Swayze actually played these roles.
Tom Cruise
It’s only appropriate that we talk about action stars now that Cruise has returned to the role of Maverick in Top Gun: Maverick, the role that helped establish him as one of Hollywood’s biggest names with the 1986 film. Days of Thunder followed suit, but when Mission: Impossible hit theatres in 1996, Cruise took the lead role and saw even greater success as an action icon. Vanilla Sky, Minority Report, Collateral, the hilarious Tropic Thunder, Jack Reacher, and American Made are just a few of his other notable action roles.
