Hailey Bieber, the popular global model has now been sued by two college mates over her Rhode skincare products. Reportedly, the college mates accused Hailey for creating a confusion amongst the buyers while having a similar name owning to their products. However, while Hailey sells skincare products, the two college mates own a clothing line in the same name.
What’s more, the lawsuit in Manhattan federal has further ordered to the judge to block Hailey Bieber of selling products anymore, and also cite a trademark infringement. Hailey is also restricted from marketing her products under the ‘Rhode’ name. The citation also hurled for unspecified damages according to reports.
The lawsuit further said that this kind of intervention was utmost necessary for Hailey Bieber is a celebrity. With a whopping number of followers and even her husband Justin Bieber promoting her products to his legion of fans, this was needed.
The lawsuit said, “Purna Khatau and Phoebe Vickers are seeking to protect the business they began in 2014 when they quit their day jobs to create a high-end clothing and accessories line, targeting “feminine, confident and well-traveled women.”
The lawsuit further added, “But the reality is that the ‘world of media’ Ms. Bieber describes is at her disposal. And she has chosen to use it to squash a woman and minority co-founded brand that simply cannot compete with her immense fame and following,” as quoted by Billboard.
