With the death of Jaya Bachchan’s political mentor Mulayam Singh Yadav on 10 October, all birthday celebrations for Amitabh Bachchan’s 80th birthday on October 11 at his residence were called off.
Jaya has always considered herself Mulayam Singh’s mentor in politics. She was constantly monitoring his declining health in the past few months, and was hoping for his miraculous recovery.
After Mulayam Singh’s death on October 10, Jaya and her son Abhishek left for the deceased politician’s hometown Saifai in Uttar Pradesh to attend his last rites.
A source close to the family informs, “Jayaji had planned a family get-together on Bachchan Saab’s birthday. It was called off as she jetted off to attend Mulayam Singhji’s funeral.”
Abhishek who accompanied his mother to Bhopal last week to meet his Naani(grandmother) was with Jayaji in her hour of distress.
