Ahan Shetty has officially joined the cast of Bhushan Kumar and JP Dutta’s upcoming film Border 2, a sequel to the iconic war drama Border. Set for release on January 23, 2026, the film brings together an impressive ensemble, including Sunny Deol, Diljit Dosanjh, and Varun Dhawan, with Anurag Singh directing.
Border 2 aims to follow in the footsteps of its predecessor, which is remembered for its portrayal of military valor and sacrifice. With its focus on patriotism and action, the film is set to deliver a gripping narrative. Sunny Deol, known for his strong presence in action films, will reprise the lead role, while Diljit Dosanjh and Varun Dhawan are expected to bring their distinctive styles to the film. Ahan Shetty’s casting adds fresh energy to the project, marking his involvement in a major war film.
This is indeed special for Ahan as he stars in a sequel whose original film starred his legendary father, Suniel Shetty in a key role.
Penning a note about it as well, Shetty posted, “Border is more than a film—it’s a legacy, an emotion, and a dream come true. Ironic how life works—my journey with Border started 29 years ago, when mom visited dad on set while pregnant with me. I grew up hearing OP Dutta’s legendary stories, holding JP uncle’s hand, and sitting by @nidhiduttaofficial side. I never realized how much those moments would shape my love for cinema and the Indian Armed Forces. Now, being part of Border 2 is an absolute honour. JP uncle, thank you for continuing to hold my hand, I hope to make you very very proud. Nidhi, your hard work brought this dream to life, thank you for all that you are and do. Bhushan Sir, thank you for trusting me with this opportunity, I’m eternally grateful. @anurag_singh_films sir, I’m excited to work under your guidance. Working with @iamsunnydeol sir is a blessing, and I can’t wait to share the screen with @varundvn who I look up to as an older brother. As a huge @diljitdosanjh fan, sharing the screen with him is surreal. And to you, Papa—everything I am is because of you, and I’ll do my best to honor the legacy you’ve worked so hard to create Maa Shakti Jai Hind”
Directed by Anurag Singh, Border 2 is positioned to offer a mix of intense storytelling and large-scale action sequences. The original Border made a significant cultural impact with its songs and sequences still being a rage and iconic as well. Hence, the expectations are high for this sequel to capture a similar response from audiences.
Given its high-profile cast and established legacy, Border 2 is likely to draw considerable attention at the box office. Fans are especially eager to see how these four actors, each known for their strengths, come together in this war film. The combination of veteran and younger talent sets up the film as one of the most anticipated releases.
