Ali Fazal is set to appear in another international film, Rule Breakers, where he will co-star with Phoebe Waller-Bridge. The movie, based on the true story of Afghanistan’s first all-girls robotics team, marks another notable addition to Fazal’s growing list of global projects. Directed by two-time Academy Award winner Bill Guttentag and produced by Angel Studios, Rule Breakers is scheduled for a theatrical release in March 2025.
Fazal recently shared his enthusiasm for the project, mentioning that working on a film centered on resilience in challenging environments is personally meaningful. He also expressed admiration for Waller-Bridge, whom he considers a remarkably talented actor, noting that her involvement has further elevated the film.
Speaking about the film’s themes, Fazal hinted at the inspirational nature of Rule Breakers, describing it as a story he hopes will reach audiences worldwide. He added that he believed the film’s message was significant enough for parents to bring their daughters to theaters to see it. According to Fazal, he and Waller-Bridge play key roles that explore pivotal points in the life of Roya Mahboob, the mentor behind Afghanistan’s female robotics team.
Rule Breakers joins Fazal’s diverse international portfolio, which includes roles in Victoria & Abdul, Death on the Nile, and others.
On the personal front, Fazal and his wife, actress Richa Chadha, welcomed their daughter, Zuneyra Ida Fazal, in July 2024. In a recent interview with Vogue India, the couple shared insights into their new chapter as parents.
