They’ve played father and daughter in Prakash Jha’s Aarakshan and in Shoojit Sircar’s Piku. Now Amitabh Bachchan and Deepika Padukone are all set to reunite for the third time, this time as mentor and pupil in the Hindi remake of Nancy Meyers’ 2015 hit The Intern in which De Niro, in a classic reversal of roles, had played a retired man who decides to serve as an intern in a company owned by Anne Hathaway and soon ends up giving her both career and personal advice.

It’s a dream role for aging male lead. And one that Rishi Kapoor was all set play when he was signed by the producers Azure Entertainment and Warner Brothers. Fate had other plans. After the veteran actor’s untimely demise the project is now looking at being revived with Mr Bachchan.

While no official comment was to be had from the producers, a source close to Mr Bachchan says nothing has been finalized as yet. “They are in talks. He(Mr Bachchan) has a packed calendar ahead. Let’s see.”
