Actor Anil Kapoor’s dashing looks and avatar often let everyone forget that the actor is over 67 years old and has amassed a career that spans over four decades.
As someone who has such experience and had his full-fledged leading role debut with Woh Saat Din in 1983, Kapoor also had supporting yet important roles in a few films earlier, and one of them was the mega-hit Dilip Kumar and Amitabh Bachchan-led, Shakti.
Reminiscing his moments from the film, Kapoor went on to pen a long and lovely note and shared some lovely anecdotes as well.
His note read, “42 years of Shakti… A film that gave me unforgettable memories and experiences. I want to thank Javed Saab for recommending my name for this iconic role without him, I wouldn’t have had the chance to work
alongside legends like Yusuf Saab and Amitji.
I still remember staying in a remote hotel, hours away from the location, feeling nervous and isolated. That’s when Smita ji’s incredible generosity came through-she insisted I move closer to the set and even offered me her room, treating me like family. Her kindness made all the difference for me.”
He added, “I was just starting out in the industry, and yet, I had this unwavering belief that something big was on the horizon. I had the confidence to say yes to Shakti even though I was a nobody at the time, working alongside some of the greatest names in Indian cinema. I couldn’t have imagined then that this film would become such a timeless classic.
Today, I look back and feel deeply grateful for this journey- from that nerve-wracking first scene with Yusuf Saab to Ramesh Sippy ji trusting me with the role of Dilip Saab’s grandson and Amitji’s son. These memories are etched in my heart forever. #42 YearsOfShakti.”
Shakti was released in 1982 and was written by the duo of Salim-Javed, and directed by Ramesh Sippy. It went on to become the highest-grossing film of that year.
