Actor Anupam Kher, doesn’t need any introduction where his varied roles spans a career across four decades and while it is known that he has been married to actress Kirron Kher, few know that she is his second wife as they have been married since 1985. He also has a stepson, actor Sikander, from Kirron’s previous marriage.
In a recent interview with Shubhankar Mishra, Anupam Kher reflected on the occasional feeling of missing out on having a child of his own. While this hadn’t been a prominent thought earlier in his life, he admitted that over the past seven to eight years, the feeling has surfaced from time to time. Although he is content with his relationship with Sikander, Kher shared that he sometimes wonders what it would have been like to watch his own child grow up and form a bond.
He emphasized that this isn’t a source of deep regret or tragedy, but a thought that crosses his mind occasionally.
Anupam explained that for much of his life, he was deeply engrossed in his work, but after turning 50-55, he started feeling a sense of emptiness. This shift occurred as both Kirron and Sikander became increasingly busy with their own careers and commitments.
Additionally, working with children through his organization, The Anupam Kher Foundation, has often made him reflect on what it might have been like to have his own kids. However, he clarified that while he sometimes feels this absence when he sees his friends’ children, he doesn’t view it as a significant loss.
Not many know that Anupam and Kirron had tried to have a child together but were unsuccessful, even despite seeking medical assistance. For the uninitiated, Anupam was previously married to actress Madhumati Kapoor, while Kirron was married to Gautam Berry before they tied the knot.
