Displaying the arrogance of supreme confidence Disney-Hotstar has decided to not screen the final Sushant Singh Rajput film before 7.30 pm on Friday.
Normally films scheduled for release on the OTT platform are released at midnight on the day of release.
“Not this one. This, as you know, is a special case .We want all of Sushant’s fans, the entire nation, to sit together and watch the film at 7.30 pm,” says director Mukesh Chhabra, adding that this was the producers Disney-Hotstar’s strategy.
This is indeed a tall order. Almost like a live telecast of a one-day cricket match. I wish the same enthusiasm had been shown for the release while Sushant was still alive.
Incidentally, the producers held back the release of Dil Bechara for almost two years. Wonder what they were waiting for. An Indian remake of the Hollywood weepie The Fault In Our Stars featuring Sushant Singh Rajput as a terminally ill loverboy,Dil Bechara is suddenly big news after the actor’s sudden death.
The Hindi remake was earlier called Kizzie Aur Manny and has been ready for release since the last two years. Trade analysts say, since this is the only unreleased film of Sushant, the clamour to get it into the public eye is impressively exacerbated. The film is crucial for its debutante heroine Sanjana Sanghi and its debutant director, the well-known casting director Mukesh Chhabra . In Sushant’s swan song he will be seen playing a dying man.
