Rohit Shetty’s much-anticipated Cop Universe film, Singham Again, has completed its opening weekend with impressive box office results. The Ajay Devgn-starrer launched strongly, raking in ₹43.50 crore on its first day. Although the film experienced slight declines in revenue over the following days, it successfully ended the weekend with a robust Rs 121-crore domestic net collection.
The movie’s cumulative total reached Rs 86 crore net within the first two days, and according to Sacnilk, Singham Again added another Rs 35 crore net in India on its third day, pushing its overall haul to ₹121 crore. Despite a 17% drop in collections on Sunday compared to Saturday, many analysts believe that the Bhai Dooj festival, celebrated across various parts of India, may have influenced ticket sales.
On the other hand, 2024 appears to be a promising year for horror comedies, as Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, directed by Anees Bazmee, has also made a powerful start. Starring Kartik Aaryan and Triptii Dimri, the film broke into the Rs 100-crore club over its opening weekend. Industry tracker Sacnilk reported that the horror-comedy pulled in Rs 33.5 crore on Sunday, taking its total weekend collection to Rs 106 crore. Despite slight declines, with Friday’s earnings at Rs 35.5 crore and Saturday’s at Rs 37 crore, the movie remained a significant draw, emerging as the third-highest opener of the year.
This places Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 behind only Stree 2, starring Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao, which debuted at Rs 55.40 crore, and Singham Again with its Rs 43.70 crore opening.
Together, these two blockbusters highlight the ongoing success of high-energy action films and horror comedies at the 2024 Bollywood box office, marking a strong year for both genres.
