Deepika Padukone is one of those actresses who has braved the fear of societal judgement and has managed to come forward to talk about her depression and the way she has battled it against all odds.

The actress had earlier gone on record to say that she was suffering from depression after her break up with Ranbir Kapoor.

However, in a totally different context, Salman Khan had commented that he didn’t have the ‘luxury’ to be depressed when he was asked about working and handling stress.

Seems like the said comment might not have gone well with Deepika, as in a latest interview, Deepika shared her thoughts about the same comment and was quoted as saying,

“People confuse it with being a bit sad. A male star said recently that he didn’t have the luxury to be depressed. As if depression is a choice!”

When she was further asked about whether she had any regrets regarding opening up to a judgemental industry, she added,

“Not at all. I felt such relief afterwards. It was liberating, like a crushing weight had been lifted off me. I’d do it all over again. Also, it made me more aware of myself.”
