The success of Dev’s releases like “Tekka,” “Bohurupi,” and “Shastri” marked a remarkable turnaround in the Bengali film industry this Puja season. Despite initial concerns with the industry in terms of hope, “Tekka” proved to be a game changer after “Padatik” and “Babli” performed disappointingly on Independence Day.

Released on Maha Panchami, “Tekka” has earned ₹2.75 crore in just six days, as announced by Dev on social media. The film’s success has brought new hope to the industry, which was worried about the impact of protests and festivals on moviegoers. Dev thanked the audience for their love and support, saying, “Thank you for loving our film so much. With your love, our film earned 2.75 crore rupees in 6 days. Keep loving our film like this; may this income increase with your love.”

Puja Season Releases: A Mixed Bag

– Tekka (starring Dev)
– Bohurupi, (Multi-starrer A windows Production)
– Shastri (starring Mithun Chakraborty)

While “Tekka” has stolen the spotlight, “Bohurupi” and “Shastri” have also generated interest among audiences. However, the earnings of “Bhourupi” remain undisclosed, and “Shastri” has not yet revealed its box office figures.

The success of “Tekka” is particularly significant, given the controversy surrounding Swastika Mukherjee’s demand to “not return to the festival” and director Srijit Mukherji’s anti-government stance. Dev acknowledged the uncertainty in the film business but expressed relief that Bengalis have not turned away from their cinema.

The Puja season has seen a surge in moviegoers, with many queuing up to watch Bengali films alongside Hindi releases like “Stree 2”. This trend suggests that the Bengali audience remains loyal to their local cinema despite initial fears to the contrary.

As the festive season continues, it remains to be seen how “Tekka” and other releases will perform at the box office. One thing is certain, though – Dev’s “Tekka” has single-handedly revived hopes for the Bengali film industry this Puja season.
