Actor Varun Dhawan’s niece, Anjini Dhawan has become the latest kid to hit the block as she makes her debut with the film, Binny And Family on the big screen. The film has opened to widely amazing reviews and puts Anjini on the map right away.

Before the release, we managed to have an exclusive conversation with Dhawan and actor Rajesh Kumar, who plays his on-screen father in the film. Talking to us, they opened up on several things ranging from how does it feel to enter the movie world, her family legacy and much more.

Q. What was your first thought when you got this project? Did you have any thoughts before or while bagging it?

Anjini: No thought. The only thought I had was that I hoped Ssanjay Sir (Tripaathy) trusted me to do this project, that’s all. I wanted to do it.

Q. Rajesh. You have multiple projects in the zone of ‘family’ now. You had Yeh Meri Family on the web which continues to get more seasons and a lot of love as well. And now, there is Binny And Family, which looked connecting, right from the beginning. What do you have to say about that?

Rajesh: I will tell you something interesting. Anjini (Dhawan) is the second actress whose debut film I am a part of. The first one was with Ananya Panday where I was a part of Student of the Year 2, and the second is you (laughs). It was such a lovely way you said it that we are here welcoming Anjini into the media family. You are welcome. Anything revolving around the concept of ‘family’ will always touch viewers, I hope.

Q. Anjini, in your case, you are the third generation in your real-life family of the Dhawan family as well as you are the third generation in this film, Binny And Family as well. Do you have similarities to your character in this film?

Anjini: Yes, there are similarities to an extent. But I wouldn’t say that she is exactly like me because in my real life, growing up, I had a great relationship with my grandparents – we were very close then and are today as well. I could tell my grandmother everyone ranging from daily talks to gossip and so on. But I don’t think Binny can do that. There are similarities other than that.

Q. Since you have been introduced, you have been called ‘Varun Dhawan’s niece.’ It might feel good initially but does it bother you and would have your own identity?

Anjini: Of course, I need my own identity. But I very proud of the family I come from. I am very excited to be related to such a vastly talented actor, dancer and person (Varun). Having said that, I have to create my own identity – nobody can give that to me. People will associate me with Varun because he has done so well for himself and made everyone in the family so proud. I have to do the same and I have to follow his footsteps thus leading to me having my own identity.
