How did the first day’s shoot of Adipurush Om Raut’s ambitious modern day adaptation of the Ramayan end up in such a fiery mess at the Retro grounds at Goregaon Mumbai.
A core member of the film’s unit told this writer, “It was strange, bizarre almost. Why would a fire break out on the first day itself? It almost seems like an ill omen.”
The fire which broke out at around 4 pm has apparently caused extensive damage to the sets worth several crores.Saif Ali Khan and Prabhas who play the two main roles were not present on the set when the fire broke out.
The source reveals that all precautions were taken againt any untoward eventuality. Then why and how the fire? It must be noted that Adipurush has been in the vortex of a raging controversy ever since Saif Ali Khan who plays Ravan in this revisionist adaptation of the Ramayan mentioned in an interview that the Ravan was being humanized in Adipurush.
Sources say the fire seen in the light of the controversy that preceded cannot be taken to be innocent.
In the meanwhile the film’s official spokesperson had this to say: “We had an unfortunate incident today on the sets of Adipurush. Thankfully, no one has been hurt and everyone is safe and sound. We thank Mumbai fire brigade and Mumbai police for their support.”
