Being a celebrity is no cakewalk. Stars are always in the limelight and get a lot of attention. They are incessantly stalked, surveilled, and monitored at each second of their lives. With the advent of social media, it has become easier for celebrities to connect with their fans and update them about their life events. Though this fan-following of millions sounds flabbergasting, it has its own downfall.
We love how celebrities bring out their fashionable best to red carpets while trying their hands on the latest trends or creating one for themselves. They don’t necessarily make it to the best dressed but they sure do make it to the wackiest dressed list. However, there are few celebrities in Bollywood and Hollywood who have aced their quirky fashion statement like a pro. Celebs from Ranveer Singh, Urfi Javed to Lady Gaga continue to experiment with their wacky outfits and don’t care about the trolls. We bring you a list of bindass wacky fashionistas of the entertainment industry. Check below!
Lady Gaga’s red-carpet history is among Hollywood’s most eccentric, with everything from meat dresses to mesh naked gowns in the mix. Once while speaking in her new documentary, Lady Gaga revealed that her wacky fashion choices come out of a desire for control in an industry that loves to take control away from its artists. Her somewhat absurd red carpet fashions, like the red lace of her “Bad Romance” era or the 2010 Video Music Awards meat dress, aren’t necessarily just fashion choices, they’re an assertion of power by the artist. “What I’ve done is that when they wanted me to be or they wanted me to be pop, I always f*cking put some absurd spin on it that made me feel like I’m still in control,” she said.
How can the hottie of Bollywood Ranveer Singh be missed when it comes to the list of Bollywood celebrities who were trolled for their styles. Not everyone has the kind of confidence that Ranveer exudes when it comes to being quirky and experimental with fashion. Once, when asked about what inspires him to have such a quirky style, he went on to reveal that he believes in expressing himself through fashion, it is just who he is. He was quoted saying, “It’s not like I have plotted this persona being flamboyant in the way I dress or anything. It’s just me. I love wearing colours. I love things that are bright and vibrant. I have come to realize over a period of time I am more attracted to the maximalist school. But when it comes to spaces, like a home or vanity van, I like it all to be very minimal, almost painfully minimal.”
Nicki Minaj has carved a niche in outlandish dressing. The hip-hop sensation dislikes being labelled and makes it a point to show that in her fashion choices. From palm leaves hairdo to a skeleton-shaped dress, the singer fearlessly mixes and matches different styles together. Exaggerated, fantastical, inflated, and loud. Her style screams for attention. People may have conflicting opinions about her style sense but she never fears experimenting. Once, while talking about her wardrobe, she was quoted saying, “I’m an entertainer, I like to make people laugh. Some will hate it and some will love it, but all will remember it. And that’s what I want: to be remembered.”
Television actress Urfi Javed hits the headlines every other day for her personal sense of style. She gets a mixed response to her clothes which range from creating outfits out of chains, shells, and garbage bags, to even using her own photographs. Trolls have hit out at her saying she is doing all this for publicity. However, Urfi remains unfazed. She says, “Everyone likes to dress up, put on make-up and look their best. Whatever I do, I do for myself because all of us want to look and feel good. And if people get provoked by a dress, then there is a problem there… they need help!”
After conquering the world of films, television, and stage, Karan Johar is now at the top of the fashion game too. Karan loves to stand out from the crowd and we truly believe that he is a walking inspiration from head to toe. He has managed to make heads turn with quirky outfits. Talking about his love for fashion, he said, “My love for fashion is unapologetic, unconventional but it is what I love. I do not want to do things that don’t make me happy, and I’ve stopped caring about what everyone thinks. As I said, you can love me, you can hate me, as long as you’re not indifferent to me, I’m fine.”
