Reliance Entertainment’s CEO Shibasish Sarkar has confirmed that their two pending biggies Rohit Shetty’s action-adventure Sooryavanshi starring Akshay Kumar and Ajay Devgan, and Kabir Khan’s sports bio-pic ’83 won’t go to the digital platform.

“These films are definitely getting releases in movie theatres whenever they (the theatres) open,” says Sarkar.

He says his production company is hoping to release Sooryavanshi for Diwali and ’83 for Christmas.

Says Sarkar, “That’s the current plan. We are committed to bring Sooryavanshi and 83 to audiences in theatres. We will wait for cinemas to open and audiences to feel safe and secure. We are all optimistic people. So we hope that in next 5/6 months the situation will be normal for audiences to come and enjoy films in theatre.”

As for Akshay Kumar and Ajay Devgan’s other starrers Laxmmi Bomb and Bhuj going on the OTT platform Sarkar says, “It’s completely individual decisions for respective producers and platforms. I think in the long term all platforms, whether it is film exhibitors , the OTT, or satellite, will thrive. And they are correct from their point of view. So it’s not fair for me to comment.”
