It’s been quite some time now that the defamation case Javed Akhtar and Kangana Ranaut has been on. The media has certainly taken a lot of interest in the matter and so far, we have seen both parties making appearances in court to record their respective statements. Well now, we have the latest update for you as per reports in The Indian Express.
Kangana Ranaut has pleaded not guilty to the defamation charge in the case filed against her by Javed Akhtar. This has paved the way for the trial to begin. She appeared before the honourable metropolitan magistrate’s court in Andheri on Monday where she is currently facing charges under Sections 499 and 500 of the Indian Penal Code related to defamation. On an application filed by Ranaut’s lawyer, the court directed journalists and others to vacate the courtroom, after which she submitted that she was not guilty of the offences she had been booked for.
