It has been over a day now since the trailer of Jigra dropped and it would be safe to say that the footage has made an instant impact where fans cannot get over watching the feisty and fiery avatar of Alia Bhatt as Satya and newcomer, Vedang Raina.

Here are some things that I believed stood out thus accentuating the trailer’s impact even further-

  1. The Pure & Unconditional Love of a Sister

While it seems like a given to be able to portray a sibling bond is one of the trickiest things to do, one can easily fall prey to stereotypical portrayals of it. That doesn’t happen here as Bhatt’s Satya and her going-against-the-world attitude to save her brother, Ankur (Raina) is amplified in fiesty ways rather than succumbing to stereotypes. The moment where Bhatt asks if she can cut her nerve and will her brother then be allowed to meet her in a medical emergency as he is in prison is subtle as Bhatt’s Satya doesn’t come across as crazy but still seems crazy.

2. The Action Sequences & Bhatt’s Visceral Avatar

As mentioned above, the biggest standout in the trailer is the fiery demeanour that Bhatt adapts to play Satya the portions where she is involved in some hand-to-hand combat sequences, the part where she falls down a tree hitting every branch, and more almost make you uncomfortable yet intrigued. That is followed by Bhatt gorging shamelessly on food that is available on possibly a premium flight and that shows how raw and visceral she is.

3. The music and songs

Apart from making an instant impact with ‘Ek Hazaron Mein Meri Behna Hai’ recreation, the English song with an upbeat tonality to the trailer adds to the slick nature and pumps up the energy right away. That consists of the first half of the trailer and the second half goes for a mellow mood and the song, Sang Rakhna instantly stands out making you feel emotional.

4. The slow-motion shot on the roof

We rarely go on to highlight one particular shot but the cinematographer, Swapnil Sonawane and director, Vasan Bala have created a scintillatingly beautiful frame as they captured Bhatt’s running shot on the roof in super slow-motion, The smoke coming out of her body and the dark atmosphere along with a titled frame as she runs makes up for a shot to remember.

Here’s the trailer below-
