Director and producer Karan Johar recently addressed a claim made by a user on X (formerly Twitter) on his own Instagram story, who accused him of using Ozempic, a medication often associated with rapid weight loss.

The user referenced comments made by Maheep Kapoor on the reality show Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives, where she criticized people using the drug, which has caused shortages for diabetic patients who rely on it.

Karan responded to the accusation by sharing a screenshot of the post on his Instagram stories, firmly denying any use of the drug. He clarified that his weight loss was due to healthy eating habits. In a playful tone, he also tagged Maheep, asking if she had him in mind when making the comments on the show.

The original post had stated, “Maheep rightly called out people for using Ozempic for fast weight loss and causing shortages for diabetics. Hope she calls out Karan Johar too, the producer of Fabulous Lives,”

Karan replied, “Being healthy, eating well, and reinventing your own nutrition! And Ozempic gets the credit? @maheepkapoor, did you mean me?” Maheep responded by resharing the post with laughing emojis, to which Karan humorously replied, “You’re laughing? I’m offended.”

For context, Ozempic is a medication used to treat type 2 diabetes by regulating blood sugar levels. One of its side effects is weight loss, as it slows digestion, leading to reduced food intake.

Karan Johar recently produced Season 3 of Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives, which is now streaming on Netflix.
