This Diwali , Akshay Kumar’s intended bomb has fizzled out. His big Diwali release Laxmmi Bomb has been re-christened Laxmi(we are not sure of the spelling of the solo title as yet).
Sources say, the change in title was on the anvil for some time now.
“But they(the producers Shabina Khan, Tusshar Kapoor) wanted to wait till pre-Diwali to make the announcement. It was pretty clear that the title Laxmmi Bomb(with two ‘m’s) wasn’t going to work. It was doomed to be deleted. But they waited as long as they could before making the title-change announcement,” says a source in the know.
With the film on release the makers seem to have milked the title controversy to its limits.
Interestingly Nagesh Kukunoor’s hardhitting film on the flesh trade in 2014 was named Laksmi. No one raised on any objection to the context in which the title was used back then. So are we as a society becoming less tolerant?
