Mithun Chakraborty was honored with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award at the 70th National Film Awards on October 8, 2024. Despite his legendary status, he remains firm in his belief that his children should build their own careers without his intervention.

Mithun’s two sons, Mimoh and Namashi, are both pursuing careers in Bollywood. Mimoh made his debut with Jimmy and has since appeared in several films, while Namashi recently secured a role in Rajkumar Santoshi’s Bad Boy through independent auditions.

Reflecting on Namashi’s struggles in an interview with Pinkvilla, Mithun shared that his son faced many challenges, often being dismissed during auditions until people realized he was Mithun’s son. Despite knowing about these difficulties, Mithun chose not to intervene. He admitted feeling some guilt but believed it was important for Namashi to experience the same hardships as other newcomers. He stressed that Namashi earned his role in Bad Boy without any assistance from him.

In a conversation with NDTV, Mithun expressed his views on the industry, stating that while many see it as driven by family connections, he disagrees. He revealed that he has never asked any producer or director to give his sons work, believing that success should come through talent alone. He emphasized that in the film industry, only those with true ability can succeed in the long run.

Mithun Chakraborty continues to be active constantly where his last Hindi film appearance was in The Kashmir Files but had multiple Bengali releases in 2024.
