The Padma Awards are undoubtedly the biggest and most respected awards that we have annually. It is a recognition that is bestowed upon individuals from different sectors in order to appreciate them for the great work that they have done in their respective field. Well, just like every year, this year as well, it wasn’t any different. As far as the entertainment industry is concerned, three of the biggest names to get the same this year are MM Keeravani, Raveena Tandon and Zakir Hussain.
While MM Keeravani has recently made the country proud at a global level for his wonderful music in RRR movie, Raveena Tandon, on the other hand has been a fine and leading actress in the Hindi entertainment industry since the very beginning of the 90s decade. Zakir Hussain, on the other hand, is a maestro of Tabla. While MM Keeravani and Raveena will receive Padma Shri, Zakir Hussain will receive Padma Vibhushan.
After the honour, Raveena was quoted by Indian Express as saying,
I am honoured and grateful. This is surreal. Thank you so much, Government of India, for acknowledging my contributions, my life, my passion and purpose that allowed me to contribute not only to the film industry, but also beyond. I thank all those who guided me through this journey of art and craft of cinema. All those who held my hand through it, and all those who watched me from their place above. I owe this to my father Ravi Tandon.”
