The Bengali film enterprise is abuzz with exhilaration and anticipation as Pratim D. Gupta’s upcoming directorial project, Chalchitra, prepares to compete with Dev’s Khadan on December 20. This unexpected twist has left many wondering if the competition could have been avoided.
In an interview with Anandabazar Online, Pratim D. Gupta jokingly remarked, “This time it is iciness once more, Puja!” while puzzled about the unexpected alternate in launch dates. Initially slated for a Puja launch, the film will face off against Dev’s noticeably anticipated “Khadan.”
“Chalchitra” boasts an outstanding cast that includes Tota Roychowdhury, Shantanu Maheshwari, Ziaul Faruq Apurba from Bangladesh, and Indranil Basu.
Shantanu, who has already garnered popularity for his romantic overall performance in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Gangubai Kathiawadi, is all set to make his debut in the Bengali Film Industry.
Pratim found out that Shantanu would play a Marwari police officer, showcasing his movement hero capabilities without the use of a frame double. The director is confident that Shantanu’s fluency in Bengali, as a Kolkata boy, will add authenticity to his individuality.
Shantanu’s connection to Kolkata runs deep, as does his family’s living in Barabazar before relocating to Mumbai. The actor’s exhilaration to shoot in his motherland turned palpable, with Pratim sharing that Shantanu would regularly go to his preferred eatery on Russell Street, indulging in neighborhood delicacies and exploring the city at some point during downtime.
