Rajkumar Hirani, one of Hindi cinema’s leading filmmakers, attended the recently came for an event on Friday, where he spoke about the potential for a third Munna Bhai film. Hirani, whose first hit was Munna Bhai MBBS, mentioned that he is working on several scripts for the next installment of the popular franchise.
During the event, Hirani shared that he currently has five unfinished scripts for Munna Bhai. He explained that after spending months developing a script and reaching the midway point, progress often stalls. Some of the tentative titles include Munna Bhai LLB, Munna Bhai Chal Base, and Munna Bhai Chale Amreeka. He highlighted the challenge of making sure the new film would surpass the previous ones, but indicated he now has a fresh idea to work with.
Hirani, known for films like Lage Raho Munna Bhai, 3 Idiots, PK, and Sanju, has maintained a streak of successful box-office releases. His latest film, Dunki, starring Shah Rukh Khan, was released in 2023. He is also developing a streaming series with Vikrant Massey, while his next film is yet to be officially confirmed.
On a lighter note, Hirani humorously remarked that Sanjay Dutt might pressure him into finishing the next Munna Bhai film, as the actor is keen to reprise his role. Despite the humor, Hirani clarified that he is giving serious thought to making the third installment.
