Senior Malayalam actor T P Madhavan passed away today, 9 October. He was aged 88, and breathed his last at a private hospital in Kollam, where he was admitted for treatment. The actor who has been a renowned and respected figure in Malayalam Cinema, having done innumerable character roles in the 1980’s and 1990’s, with over 600 films to his credit.

It is believed that Madhavan suffered from a memory loss a few years back and was being treated for it. He started his career at the age of 40, and will stand out in the history books as one of the renowned performers in the Malayalam film industry. Another feather in his cap was that he was the first General Secretary of the Association Of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) and was one of the solid pillars for the shaping up of this organization where he served duty for more than 10 years.

He was a sociology student and was also selected to the Indian Army. Some of his note films include Raagam, Chandanachola, Mohiniyattam, Anugraham, Samudhram, Aval Oru Devaalayam and many more.

Many noted actors from the Malayalam industry have been paying homage to the versatile actor.
