According to a report by Mid-Day, the film, produced by Vasu Bhagnani’s Pooja Entertainment in collaboration with Amazon Studios, was originally planned with a substantial budget of ₹500 crore. However, as pre-production advanced, the costs escalated further. Reports indicate that the film aimed to rival international fantasy-action films in scale, but as shooting progressed, the rising expenses became a significant hurdle. Additionally, Pooja Entertainment’s existing debt added to the financial strain, making it difficult to sustain the project’s ambitious vision.
Set against the backdrop of the Mahabharata, Ashwatthama explores the legend of the immortal warrior who is said to still roam the Earth today.
