The box office battle this week, for the longest time was one to witness. Two big guns, Singham Again and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 were set to go head-to-head and it was always one of the more interesting aspects to see, which one would take the upper hand. The first day was supposed to be a moolah maker and that has indeed been the case as these films brought the big bucks.
On the one hand, Singham Again was always supposed to have the advantage because it has assembled some of the biggest stars in the Hindi film industry in a dream ensemble together. The Ajay Devgn-led franchise returned with Singham Again and as expected, the film brought big money to earn over Rs 43.50 crore on Day 1.
While this was on the lines of expectations, it is Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, who has sprung in a Diwali surprise right when the booking began. At times, the film was ahead and it proved that Singham Again won’t be a one-horse race. The Kartik Aaryan-led film shocked many by the trends and earned Rs 35 crore on Day 1.
Day 1 trends of both films have been phenomenal and it should only get better ahead, where the word-of-mouth for both films has been positive. The Saturday and Sunday numbers should put them ahead with a healthy total and it will now be interesting to see which films maintain momentum.
