Sobhita Dhulipala and Naga Chaitanya are gearing up for their upcoming wedding. On Monday, Sobhita shared a series of photos from a pre-wedding ritual on social media. Captioning the post with, “Godhuma Raayi Pasupu danchatam And so it begins!” the ceremony was held in Vishakhapatnam.
For the uninitiated, these practices have a special significance where in Telugu, godhuma means wheat, raayi means stone, pasupu refers to turmeric, and danchatam translates to grinding or crushing. This phrase signifies a customary ritual in Telugu weddings where the couple grinds wheat and turmeric together on a stone, symbolizing the start of their shared journey. The act reflects unity, cooperation, and the idea that marriage is a partnership where both individuals come together to take on responsibilities and work in harmony.
For the occasion, Sobhita wore a silk saree in shades of peach, gold, and green. She was surrounded by close family and friends, receiving blessings from the elders by touching their feet, and participated in the traditional grinding of turmeric.
As known, the couple got engaged in August, with only immediate family in attendance. Naga Chaitanya, the son of Telugu actor Nagarjuna, shared the engagement news on his official X (formerly Twitter) account. Nagarjuna expressed his joy and said he was delighted to welcome Sobhita into their family.
