Actor Sunny Deol has not been seen on screen since Blank in 2019 which drew a blank at the boxoffice .He hopes to make a comeback with R Balki’s Chup which opens this week.
In Chup Sunny Deol got to work with R Balki for the first time.
Deol recently opened up on his experience of working with the director.”It is my first time working with Balki . He is really a great professional with a great vision. He knows what he wants and is very precise with his work, and that’s what made us finish the shoot within just 45 days. It was a great pleasure working with him and the whole team. It went most smoothly for us.”
In an earlier interview with me Sunny Deol had said, “I’ve reached a stage in my career where I don’t need to prove anything to anyone except myself.I’ve been around for forty years. I’ve seen generations of actors come and go. I want to be remembered as a lambi race ka ghoda, like my father(actor Dharmendra).”
Chup is a homage to the great filmmaker Guru Dutt whom Sunny Deol never got a chance to work with . However his father Dharmendra has a close connection with Guru Dutt. In what was meant to be Guru Dutt’s last starring role in Baharen Phir Bhi Aayengi in 1966, Dharmendra replaced Guru Dutt after the latter’s sudden death. The entire film was re-shot with Dharmendra.
