Sunny Deol’s latest film Jaat opened in theatres on April 10 and registered a solid start at the box office. The action-packed drama collected ₹9.5 crore on its first day, as per early estimates by Sacnilk. The film is directed by Gopichand Malineni and is set against a backdrop of intense confrontations and high-stakes conflict.
Despite the initial numbers, Jaat fell short when compared to the opening day performance of Sikandar, led by Salman Khan, which earned ₹26 crore. While Jaat saw a decent turnout in Hindi-speaking regions, its overall Day 1 occupancy stood at 14.28%.
In the lead-up to the film’s release, actor Randeep Hooda spoke about his admiration for Sunny Deol, recalling moments from his school days when Deol’s influence was part of his growing-up years.
The film’s cast includes Vineet Kumar Singh, Regina Cassandra, Saiyami Kher, Ramya Krishnan, and Jagapathi Babu. Each plays a role in the storyline that weaves through multiple layers of conflict and allegiance.
Jaat is backed by production houses Mythri Movie Makers, People Media Factory, and Zee Studios. The producers—Naveen Yerneni, Yalamanchili Ravi Shankar, T. G. Vishwa Prasad, and Umesh Kumar Bansal—have brought together a wide-ranging team to shape the film’s narrative.
As the film enters its first weekend, it remains to be seen whether strong word-of-mouth and the star power of Sunny Deol can maintain momentum at the ticket counters. The coming days will determine how the film performs against other releases currently in theatres.
