Sushant Singh Rajput, a late Bollywood star, finally found a new tenant for his Mumbai apartment over three years after his passing. A monthly fee of Rs 5 lakh would be charged for the apartment. However, nearly three years after Sushant Singh Rajput’s passing, his apartment was still empty.
A few months ago, the apartment owner got in touch with Rafique Merchant, a real estate broker in Mumbai, according to the Hindustan Times. Rafique claimed that potential renters contacted him after hearing about the apartment’s unoccupied status.
The apartment will now be rented out for Rs 5 lakh per month, and the owners will get a security deposit of Rs 30 lakh, equivalent to six months’ rent. Notably, Sushant Singh Rajput’s body was discovered there on June 14, 2020.
India Today reported Rafique saying, “We have found somebody (a renter). We are in the final stage of talks with the family to finalize things. People are now relaxed about it (Sushant’s death) because they say it has been a while.”
Rafique’s Statement About Renter To Visit Apartment
Rafique told Bollywood Hungama about finding new renters, “People are terrified to settle into this property. Prospective renters would refuse to even visit the apartment after learning it was where he died. Since the word of his passing has become older, at least some people are now visiting the apartment. However, the deal has not yet been completed. The owner is likewise adamant and won’t lower the rent. If he does, it will sell rapidly. Tenants prefer purchasing another apartment of comparable size in the same neighborhood as it would not come with the baggage of controversy that this apartment is linked with because he is selling it at market value.”
The apartment at Mont Blanc Apartments is a 4BHK duplex with a sea view that is 2,500 square feet in size and also includes a patio. The apartment is on Carter Road in Bandra West, Mumbai. In December 2019, Sushant Singh Rajput leased the sixth-floor apartment for three years. He was making a monthly rent payment of Rs. 4.51 lakh.
