Breakups and patch-ups are the new normal in Bollywood and TV industries, and filing a divorce after a short term is also so common in their lives. Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao: The two issued a joint statement on July 3 to announce their divorce after 15 years of marriage. Describing their divorce as not as an end but the start of a new journey, the ex-couple said that they will remain devoted parents to their son Azad. They also said that they will continue working on projects together.
Samantha and Naga Chaitanya: Tollywood actors took to social media on October 2 to announce their separation after four years of marriage. Naga Chaitanya and Samantha tied the knot in a grand ceremony in 2017 in Goa. For some time, there had been rumours about their troubled relationship. In a statement, they spoke about their decade-long friendship. Their separation came as a huge shock to their fans.
Sushmita Sen and Rohman Shawl: Fans were shocked when the news of Sushmita and Rohman’s breakup came. Nobody believed it. But when Sushmita made a post on social media on Instagram and told that she and Rohman are no longer together, the fans were heartbroken.
Nisha Rawal and Karan Mehra: The two had an ugly break-up. Karan was arrested after his wife Nisha Rawal filed a complaint against him in Goregaon police station on May 31 following a brawl. The actress had even filed a domestic violence case against Karan and accused him of having extramarital affairs. There were reports that Karan and Nisha had been facing trouble in their marriage for a few months. They have a four-year-old son, Kavish who stays with Nisha.
Shikhar Dhawan and Aesha Mukerji: Indian cricketer and his wife Aesha got divorced after eight years of marriage. In an Instagram post in September, Aesha Mukerji revealed that she is now a two-time divorcee. They married in 2012 and have a kid named Zoravar.
Dhanush and Aishwaryaa Rajinikanth: The New Year started on a shocking note when Tamil star Dhanush and Aishwaryaa Rajinikanth announced that they were parting ways after 18 years of marriage. “18 years of togetherness as friends, couple as parents and well-wishers to each other. The journey has been of growth, understanding, adjusting, and adapting. Today we stand at a place where our paths separate. Aishwaryaa and I have decided to part ways as a couple and take time to understand us as individuals for the better.” He ended the statement by asking fans to respect their decision and their need for privacy at this time. Film director Aishwaryaa, who is the elder daughter of megastar Rajinikanth, also shared a similar statement.
Aamir Ali and Sanjeeda Shaikh: One of the much-loved couples of TV and the Aamir Ali and Sanjeeda Shaikh parted ways after a period of nine years of married life. Earlier, rumors of their separation were also spread during 2020 and around that time the news of the couple having a daughter through surrogacy also made headlines. As they are no longer with each other, the custody of their beautiful 2-year-old daughter Ayra Ali has been given to Sanjeeda.
Nitish Bhardwaj and Smita Gate: The iconic TV serial Mahabharat’s Sri Krishna Nitish Bhardwaj ended a 12-years of marriage with IAS officer wife Smita Gate. He said ‘Divorce is more painful than death’. The actor Nitish got married to 1992 batch IAS officer Smita Gate in 2009 and they have twin daughters Devyani and Shivaranjani, who are currently living with Smita.
Rithvik Dhanjani and Asha Negi: The two actors, who met on the sets of their show Pavitra Rishta, parted ways after being together for several years. The news of their split came out in April. A source close to the couple had shared that they were facing trouble in the relationship, so they decided to call it quits. Rithvik apparently was living with Asha Negi but he has moved out of the house.
