Vasan Bala’s latest film Jigra, featuring Alia Bhatt, has been stuck in controversy, facing allegations of box office manipulation and plagiarism, particularly in relation to Divya Khosla’s film Savi. Many presume these controversies have impacted the film’s performance in theaters.
In a recent interview with the Hollywood Reporter India, Vasan Bala addressed the plagiarism claims. He explained that Savi was released during the editing phase of Jigra, Bala said that the film is available for everyone to watch, allowing audiences to form their own opinions. He emphasized that he did not want to criticize or escalate the situation further.
Regarding the accusations of fabricating box office numbers, Bala described it as a matter related to distribution. He suggested that it was not a complex issue and welcomed anyone to investigate the claims.
When discussing the film’s underperformance, Bala acknowledged the responsibility that comes with delivering results in mainstream cinema. While he admitted feeling disappointed by the film’s failure, he expressed appreciation for the unwavering support of Karan Johar and Alia Bhatt. Despite their encouragement, Bala noted that the film’s outcome left him feeling disheartened.
As known, Jigra released on Dusshera 2024 clashing with Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video and the film has underperformed as per expectations and has barely warned 23 crores at the box office despite opening to glowing reviews.
