It’s criminal to box Singham Again to be one actor’s film – and a crime I am not up for to commit only to be reprimanded by Bajirao Singham. The sheer Avenger-like line-up director Rohit Shetty has assembled to present his mammoth juggernaut of a film has never been done before. Apart from it being an Ajay Devgn vehicle, one cannot firmly out their hand on the other actors in that ensemble to be calling it ‘their’ film.
It is categoric but Important to highlight how sans Ajay Devgn, Deepika Padukone, and to an extent, Kareena Kapoor Khan – the entire ensemble while starry and huge with their appeal are riding on multiple box office failures and need a hit, desperately.
One of them is the acrobatic Tiger Shroff, who has barely done about three films in the last four years and all of them have been colossal flops.
Shroff was once regarded as a box-office puller where his Baaghi franchise, especially how he raked in big money and courtesy his work ethic, Shroff has also been a loved man otherwise. But the montony of his stuntwork, his flips, his dancing has caught up and with no novelty factor and banal scripts, Shroff needs redemption.
Sources suggest that owing to how he plays a version of Lakshman in Singham Again and possibly will have a lot of screentime with Devgn, there is room for Shroff to have redemption not only in terms of the box office but also some credibility to his acting.
Many suggest how despite having limited range as an actor, when exploited intricately, Shroff’s best can happen that is loved by both the critics and the audiences.
Whether or not Rohit Shetty is that filmmaker who has managed to get the blend right and present Shroff in an avatar that gains love, we will have to wait and see.
But the inevitable big bucks that Singham Again promises and notice for his performance is just the redemption arc that Tiger Shroff needs.
