Rewind2020: Madhur Bhandarkar Looks Back At 2020, Ahead at 2021

When it comes to striving for ‘excellence’ in the Hindi Film Industry, very few manage to do it successfully and one such successful name is Madhur Bhandarkar. Although his career as a director started with a big flop in the form of ‘Trishakti’, Madhur Bhandarkar quickly understood what his forte is and that’s the reason, his very second film ‘Chandni Bar’ earned him a National Award. The success spree soon followed with films like Aan: Men At Work, Corporate, Fashion, Heroine, Calendar Girls and many more and he got branded as a director who is known for making the most ‘realistic’ films. IWMBuzz exclusively got in touch with Madhur to know more about his 2020 and his plans ahead in 2021, he was quoted as saying,

“2020 has overall been a very difficult year for us. It has made all of us introspect to a huge extent and we all learnt to value even the smallest of things in life which we probably ignored earlier. It has been a great learning curve and I feel it has also prepared us mentally to fight harder battles in the future. There’s always light after darkness and it has managed to make us believe in ourselves a lot more.”

Shedding more light about his 2021 plans, he further added,

“2021 will start on a busy note for me and I am very happy about it. After taking a bit of a break cautiously, I am now back into mainstream Hindi cinema and will start working on my upcoming movie titled ‘India Lockdown’ which has been announced recently. It is a story inspired by true events and once again, I hope and look forward to entertaining my audience by bringing in the touch of realism that I always look to blend in my cinema.”
