Cosmo ME chatted with Amanda Cerny about all things feminist and her love for campaigning at the ITP UN Women ITP Live Conference in Dubai. She is a true inspiration and symbol for finding a girl who can “do it all.” Amanda began by discussing how she became a UN Ambassador, despite the fact that we may know her as a YouTuber and Viner. In 2019, she was appointed as a UN Wildlife Ambassador, and she claims that her bond with them grew “organically.”

“I believe it is critical to use my position to raise awareness about problems that are important to me, such as environmental and wildlife issues,” she says. Not only that, but Amanda was instrumental in assisting with the Covid problem in India, raising funds to aid the country’s recovery. Amanda believes she has a personal responsibility to make others happy, in addition to using her platform for the improvement of society. “I think being genuine to yourself is a crucial aspect of being an influencer,” she adds, adding that it may be “something simple like making someone feel a little bit happier during a tough day.” Amanda recanted her adoration for Angelina Jolie when asked who her biggest inspiration was. “A lot of her humanitarian activity is genuine, as is the fact that she is a wealthy businesswoman and producer.”

“I find it quite exciting to be hands-on and to take a leading position in things.” Amanda reflects this in her podcast Feels Good, which she co-hosts with Jacqueline Fernandez and addresses some critically essential but often overlooked themes. Finally, Amanda discusses her dislike of putting individuals in boxes and the negative influence it has on women’s development. “I enjoy proving people’s preconceptions about me wrong,” Amanda adds, “but, unfortunately for other people, labels can prevent them from realizing their full potential.” It frequently happens, especially among women.

“Women, who accept their sexuality, for example, aren’t permitted to discuss philanthropy? It’s naive, and while I believe the world is beginning to think differently now, there’s still a lot of potential for women to grow and take leadership roles and for us to be taken seriously.” And this is especially true given how often women’s one-dimensional appeal inhibits them from broadening their horizons.
