According to herzindagi.com Kareena Kapoor was the first choice for the role of Sonia Saxena which was later on played by Ameesha Patel. The film shooting was about to start with a song and Kareena Kapoor’s Mom Babita Kapoor called Rakesh Roshan and told him to start with dialogues and wait for the song as Kareena Kapoor is not ready. However, Rakesh Roshan tried to convince Babita Kapoor.
Four days before the shoot it was difficult for Rakesh Roshan to convince Babita Kapoor and so he told that he cannot work with this situation and Ameesha Patel was signed for the role in the film just four days before the shoot. The movie was a super hit and Ameesha Patel and Hrithik Roshan were looking fabulous together. This was the reason behind replacing Kareena Kapoor with Ameesha Patel in the movie Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai.
