Karan Johar, one of Bollywood’s biggest filmmakers, has introduced several debutants who later became superstars. One of his most successful discoveries is Alia Bhatt, now one of the industry’s top actresses. On Komal Nahta‘s Game Changers podcast, Karan revealed the moment he saw Alia he knew she was destined for stardom. He recalled seeing her in the film Highway and it was then he knew she was always meant to be a superstar.
Karan said that he knew she was a good actor but HIghway changed her journey, “I always believed she was a star, but I couldn’t predict she would become this kind of actress. I knew she was a good actor, solid, and could face the camera. I always say this.”
He further added, “Her emotional launch was in Student of the Year, but her professional launch was Highway. That film opened all the doors to her acting. It proved that she is an outstanding actress, not just a star.”
