Rakul Preet Singh, known for her acting prowess, has also emerged as a prominent advocate for wellness, fitness, and promoting a healthy lifestyle. Recently, after returning from a vacation, she shared some pictures along with a caption reflecting on “food guilt.” As an actor, maintaining a particular physical appearance is often part of the job, and this scrutiny can sometimes lead to internal pressure around food choices. Indulging in certain foods while on vacation may feel conflicting, as many actors, like Rakul, face moments of guilt over breaking their fitness routines, despite the importance of balance and self-care.
In an recent interview, she said, “I’ve been dealing with this in my head for a while. I’ve always been into wellness, and I like the fit way of being. But having said that, there is a fine line before it can become your obsession, which has happened to me in the past. But I had to constantly tell myself that it’s okay; you don’t have to weigh yourself daily, and that’s not my validation. This is the first time I’m speaking about it.”
She added, “I felt a lot of young girls will resonate with it. I think that was my major reason because it’s not just about actors, but today in the day and age of social media, especially the Gen-Z and the younger generations, their validation comes from how they look online. It’s all about how many likes there are on a picture. I was reading some report that so many young girls are bulimic or anorexic, and it led me to say that we all go through this guilt, and it’s okay. There should be more open conversations as nobody talks about food depression that people have.”
Rakul Preet Singh acknowledges the pressure young girls face when comparing themselves to the physiques of female actors. She emphasizes that actors’ appearances result from hard work, not natural perfection. She expresses concern over the struggles many teenagers face, noting that a significant percentage may have anorexic or bulimic thoughts and advocates for more open conversations about these issues. She expressed concern over this mindset and calls for more food experts in India to address the challenges young girls face, advocating for better guidance on healthy living.
On the work front, Rakul Preet Singh has some exciting projects lined up. She is set to star in the much-awaited sequel De De Pyaar De 2, where she will reprise her role opposite Ajay Devgn, with R. Madhavan reportedly playing her father. Additionally, Rakul will be seen in Mere Husband Ki Biwi alongside Arjun Kapoor, and in Ameeri, sharing the screen with the talented Neena Gupta.
