In a recent interview by Scroll, acclaimed director Shoojit Sircar who recently unveiled the teaser for his highly anticipated film, ‘I Want to Talk,’ featuring Abhishek Bachchan spoke about his artistic vision and the themes that inspire his work. He remarked, “Whatever the situation in your life, it can be looked at with humour too. I’ve tried to bring those nuances into the films. These beautiful relationships and moments, which cook slowly, where there is joy, appeal to me more.”
The teaser, which dropped earlier this week, showcases how Shoojit Sircar has a remarkable ability to weave relatable narratives into his films. His storytelling often focuses on the nuances of human relationships, elevating seemingly mundane issues into engaging and thought-provoking narratives.
Take, for instance, ‘Piku,’ where he delved into the delicate subject of constipation—a topic rarely explored in mainstream cinema. By framing it within the context of a father-daughter relationship, Sircar managed to create a heartfelt story that not only entertained but also brought attention to a very human struggle.
Similarly, in ‘Vicky Donor,’ he tackled the topic of sperm donation and male infertility, issues often shrouded in stigma. Through a light-hearted yet informative narrative, Sircar opened up conversations about social taboos, encouraging viewers to rethink their perceptions while being entertained.
With ‘October,’ he explored themes of loss and healing through the lens of an unconventional love story. ‘I Want To Talk’ marks Shoojit Sircar’s first ever collaboration with Abhishek Bachchan. The director has previously worked with Amitabh Bachchan in Piku and Gulabo Sitabo. I Want to Talk releases in cinemas on November 22, 2024.
