Bollywood’s love affair with gangster or underworld films has always been there. And audiences too love watching such thrilling movies which are inspired by real-life goons. From Sanjay Dutt’s Vastav to Ajay Devgn’s Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai, here we bring a list of 5 Bollywood gangster movies.
Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai: This film traces the growth of Mumbai’s underworld, and is said to be based on real-life gangsters Haji Mastan and Dawood Ibrahim. Featuring Ajay Devgan, Emraan Hashmi, Prachi Desai, Kangana Ranaut and Randeep Hooda in lead roles, the movie was a box office hit.
Vaastav: The Reality: The movie is believed to be loosely based on the life of underworld gangster Chota Rajan. Known to be one of Sanjay Dutt’s best performances, Vaastav was successful at the box office.
Shootout at Wadala: Sanjay Gupta’s Shootout at Wadala is regarded to be based on the life of Manya Surve, a Mumbai-based gangster. This film was liked by the audience and was commercially successful as well.
Black Friday: Based on S Hussain Zaidi’s book of the same name, this is the most authentic film to date on Mumbai’s gangsters and the links of some mob bosses to Pakistan’s intelligence set-up. It shows how Dawood Ibrahim and Tiger Memon planned and executed the serial blasts.
Company: Ram Gopal Varma’s film was loosely based on the relationship between mob bosses Dawood Ibrahim and Chota Rajan, who were once very close before falling out over the 1993 bomb blasts in Mumbai. Ajay Devgn and Vivek Oberoi impressed the audience and critics with their performances.
